Can you dismantle sectionals or remove sofas that won't fit?

Why can't a sofa go out with normal rubbish?
Most sofas count as upholstered seating, which current waste rules require to be processed separately from general waste. That is why sofas are collected and quoted as their own service rather than added loosely to a mixed load.
